Practise days are run on most Fridays throughout the year but check with the website or call Winton Raceway on (03) 5766 4235.

Cars DO NOT need a fire extingisher, but must be roadworthy, registered or raceworthy. A second bonnet restraint is recommended and all cars MUST have a muffler fitted.

Part of the reason of posting this is myself and a mate are looking at heading up one Friday before he goes over to the USA. I am just wondering are a few people from here interested in going up there together? Maybe an informal GMH-Torana forum event?

Yeah, good on ya mate, I haven't got a car on the road at the mo. let alone track :furious:

May be I could borrow a used car from work? We have a VT gen 3 manual SS (on gas right up your alley Steve) and a manual Mazda RX8 in stock at the mo. :spoton:

Or maybe a new Evo Lancer? The speedo responds like a tacho on these babys, my brayn isn't fast enough to drive one

Winton Fun Day Information
(lifted straight from Word Document recieved on email)

11th January 2007

Dear Fun Day participant

Winton Motor Raceway will be conducting our first AUTOBRAKES Fun Day for 2007 on Sunday 28th January.

Cost for the days activity is $25 per participant, whether driver or passenger.

Gates will open at 8.00am. All cars must have a safety check before going onto the circuit; vehicles must be roadworthy or race worthy to participate. Clothing worn by drivers and passengers must be non-flammable (cotton or preferably wool no nylon), covering wrist to neck to ankles, proper enclosed footwear must be worn. All participants must wear a helmet which complies with current Australian Standard. Seatbelts must be tightly fitted and worn at all times, we would also like to remind participants that all limbs must be inside the vehicle while out on the circuit.

Track activity will commence at 10am following a compulsory participants briefing at 9.30am.

All vehicles must have an effective muffler fitted to the vehicles exhaust system to reduce the engine noise; maximum noise level permitted is 95dBA

All drivers will be limited to 80% of the potential of both the car and driver. This is not a race, there will be large differences between the speed of each vehicle so be careful. Anyone exceeding the 80% rule or overdriving will be flagged off the track and given a warning, a second offence will mean that it is home time for you.

The days activities will be conducted in sessions of 30mins for driver only, followed by 30min sessions for driver and passenger, depending on vehicle numbers and time available.

The Winton Kiosk will be open all day offering you and your family a variety of hot and cold take away foods and drinks.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us by phone on (03) 5766 4235.

To keep you informed on events at Winton Motor Raceway and Wakefield Park an E-Newsletter FASTLAP is being developed could you please inform us of your email address at [email protected]

Basically if you spin or start sliding sideways etc they black flag you.

From memory in the drivers briefing they say something along the lines of if they hear tyres squealing, and they can tell from the 'attitude' of the car.
