The deal is to get the thing in place and all the other bits welded on so I can move forward...anything suspect will be upgraded. Gotta say...I love the floor...

Trust me Rory..... brace the chassis mount end of the panhard rod.....
As Rodomo quite rightly said they tear out of Commodores standard.
Brace it to the opposite chassis rail ideally.....

Thats pretty easily done. How's the height and line Greg?..Tried to decify your explanation when fitting it. Its parralel when on the ground, i.e. the bolt up points are in line..

looking very good i love this car :)
one question rorym how did u attach your foot petals as i have a set similar but not to sure how to put them on did u just drill into the metal plate and use the screws?
Cheers Ben

I went though the same problem...
It's pretty hard to drill though the metal pedal plates when their installed, try taking them off, putting them in a vice carefully and drilling through..

Otherwise you could just remove the pads on it from stock and somehow glue/bond the new pedal pads on?

Funny you mention that Sam...I installed rubbers into the spare set I have as the young bloke was welding away...After talking to M@ I am fitting the rubber uppers on the weekend in place of the Nolathene.

OK...Done a bit of research...we will use 12mm plate cut to triangulate down each side of the chassis rail...and I am running 50mm channel off the arm right across under the boot to the chassis on the other side as per Gregs suggestion..If it falls off then I just fit the Floord hat and a Watts Link!

Talking to the welder today we are going with a 12mm plate triangle welded to the inside of the chassis rail about 150mm x 150mm welded to the tank side of the arm and chassis to add the strength we need. By the way...for 2.5 hours he charged me $100...love small country towns!

Your using what? 1/2" plate.
Man, I usually use 25x25x 1.6 SHS and that is plenty. If you are going to use 1/2 plate then for god sake cut some holes in it. This is a race car right? It hasn't morphed into earthmoving equipment or something has it..... :spit:

All shit stirring aside......
Mate this is what you want to end up with. You always get strength through design in a race car, not by using large cross section material.

Hahaha! Yeah Yeah...
I found an article on a MG being built for racing in UK...the panhard setup is exactly what you have drawn and what I was saying 2 posts back...I think I will run with that...not the welders suggestion on reflection.

looking at the above pic.....
a couple of suggestions.
Don't use differnt profile materials next to each other it looks amateurish.
And GAL has no place in a race car. It is right up there with making things out of star pickets!
