For Photography at Uni at the moment i am taking pictures of my 78 1:18th scale A9X Race car!
What do you reckon? Look real enough to pass?

The first shot doesnt quite carry the look, but the second and third ( probably cause of the lighting) Look awesome!
Awesome depth of field in the third shot! i think that's what makes it look more real because i think its mostly the scenery that looks un-natural!
Top stuff !

i have a few more. Just have to resize them. I might print off some old Holden and Ford banners to stick on the barriers in the brackground.
The thing thats hard to change is the road surface. i just cant get in fine enough!
I am redesignin the cover of the A9X DVD so these shot will be used in it...
and of course ill show u all when im done!
any other ideas? or even some old pictures of the banners etc i could have to print off!

I think the ripple strip is a bit too wide... usualy theyre no more than a 1/3rd the width of the car.. and yeah.. the gravel looks a bit coarse! Though ive gotto say that the last photo you posted above looks really good ( even with teh size of the gravel!)
I wonder if you could use some lighting to brighten the side of the car? ( Ok.. i'm not a photographer.. so this is where i'm just guessing!!)

Yeah i should be able to photoshop a bit of a blur in the scenery as well. I dont really want to push the car as its worth a fair bit of cash lol!
If only i owned a 1:18th scale bathurst Circuit! Then it would be perfect! I also want a raised ripple strip.... Do you know if i can go to sandown and actually take pictures on the track? Or even another race course with ripple strips etc, and i just photoshop the car onto the track?
But so far im really happy with how they have come out! The Little Brocky model in it really makes hte car look real!

I agree your up against it a bit with the scenery not being yours, umm
....... I'm no photographer either, could you maybe use wet&dry paper
of whatever grade u think to simulate the road surface you want. Cut to
the shape of the corner you may also be able to lesson the width of the
kerbing. Maybe not? just thinking out load Really like the last 2

maybe try wet and dry sand paper with slotcar track ripple strip back filled with dirt.
and can you blur the wheels for at speed feel?
keep up the good work.

Try twitching (quickly move) the camera to the left or right so that the car becomes slightly blurred in the pic to simulate motion.
and/or
Try getting someone with a cigarette to blow smoke at it from the front to rear along the ground and take the pic at different angles.
Cheers,
Rick.

I think your photos are awesome and I wonder if you could borrow some more cars from other forum members to put in the photo. Brocky sure was good, but he wasn't always a mile in front.
